Inspired by my personal interactions and photographs of the hummingbirds around my home, each original painting attempts to convey the energy and personality that are as vivid as the colors in their feathers. As I was painting this guy, I nicknamed him "Ozzie" as each part of him brought to mind different characters from a childhood favorite, the Wizard of Oz. In him I saw the golden curls and courage of the lion, the heart of the tin man, and even the fancy, emerald colored waistcoat of the Wizard, himself. The original is among my first attempt at painting these delightful creatures and working on it, indeed, brought me home to myself. Each signed and numbered print is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
